News 24.11.2009 Belarus should decide whether Abkhazia and South Ossetia should be recognized without external influence. The Russian head of state made the relevant statement in an interview with Belarusian mass media. "We have recognized the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. It was a very complicated choice for us", said Dmitry Medvedev. "All other members of the international community should decide by themselves whether they should recognize Abkhazia's and South Ossetia's independence or not. It is a domestic affair of any country". Dmitry Medvedev said that it would be better for Russia if "these new international entities receive the largest number of recognitions".
